Chrismas Haul Part 2 - Cupcake Mania!

So here's the second installment of the wonderful gifts that I got this year.
One thing not many of you may now is that, I'm pretty mad about cupcakes, I love baking and anything cupcakes makes me fall in loooove, so I got alot of cupcake and baking related things this year as well :).

How adorable is this apron!!! My lovely friend Jenni got me is as part of my present, its soooo cute! The little cupcake trinket on it is one of the things my granny got me, she got me mainly clothing items including a cuuuuute raincoat, they'll feature in another post.

Finally I got one of those giant cupcake molds, wooo!. Cupcake sprinkle shakers from my little brother, silicone cases and how cute are those teacupcake things!!! Will be adorable for little friendly gatherings :)

A cupcake recipie book from my granny which is FAB, has some great ideas in it! Cupcake chocolates from my little brother, cupcake socks which were dads picking, and one of those folding shopper bags =].

Then I got this beast! I cupcake maker! In theory, its not solving much of a problem because you can just make cupcakes in the oven... but this is SO much cooler and it will keep them is much better shape as mine often slob everywhere in the oven.

So there you have it, the second installement, cupcake themed pressies :).

Lots of love,
Gemma.

Christmas Haul Part 1 - Beauty

Sadly as I'm writing this I have a big ol swollen up face from an annoying wisdom tooth, which I very much doubt will go down by tomorrow, plus being on lots of painkillers and antibiotics means no drinkies.. big fat boo!

But on a lighter note, heres the beauty related gifts that I got for christmas :)

A few stocking fillers here, 2 lipsmakers balms in cola and vallina cola, an MUA eye shaddow (dupe for mac club which is why i askd for it, well done mum for remembering the right one!) a debenhamds lip scrub, this is beautiful and its cupcake flavoured and scented! And snow fairy, my mum makes us all personalised crackers and this is what she put in mine :).

Mac Viva Glam Gaga 2, Mac nail polish and Katy Perry Purr. Ooober pleased that I got gaga 2 because I'd almost forgotten about it and hadn't bought it yet it had been on my to get list for ages!

A selection of hair masks from avon. My mum knows just how much I love my hairmasks, and I get through them SUPER quick, so i was very happy to see theese!

The sleek berry colletion! I was almost sure that I would get this, as I kept banging on about it, its such a lovely set and I wil deffinately do a review on this!

EEEEP! This is one of the first presents that I opened and I was SO pleased! Origins vitazing moisteriser, ginzing eye cream and an overnight facemask. I've yet to try the face mask but I am SO impressed with the vitazing and ginzing, I will deffinately being doing a review of these products, I adore them and they have become staples!

Here is some avon goodies, an MUA matt black shaddow, most adorable perfume roll on ever, its Tinkerbell and is called 'pixie dust'! The ring above is a scented ring with the same scent, how cute! Then there's the sleek primer palette which I have been after for ages, and the nail polish is one of my favourite presents! You wont really get why, its a RUBBISH polish, the worst, BUT its from Toys R us in times square, my mums friend had to hunt for this on her holiday, and it plays 'A different side of me' by Allstar Weekend when you open it! I wanted the lipgloss but the didn't have it, I honestly dont care because whatever product it is, it's going to be totally naff but Allstar Weekend are one of my favourite bands, they're much more popular in the states, hence this only being available over there, and I got to meet the band at a one off UK gig, and the lead singer signed my ankle and i have it tattooed, so you can see why I was so hyped about this!

A jelly belly fragrance set, woah, these really do smell strong, much more than I thought they would! A cranberry room spray, this has become one of my favourite presents (yes I am easily amused) I will probly review this as well since I love it so much. I LOVE room/linin sprays and cranberry is one of my favourite smells/tastes especially in cocktails, and this smells JUST like a woo woo or cosmopolitan cocktail, fab! Then there's a new york make-up bag, my mum said the only reason she got this was for one of the photo's, it has a picture of west 42nd street subway station. I went to new york for my 16th and 18th birthdays, we stayed at the same hotel both times, on times square, and we would always pass this tube station :)

One thing is missing from this, because I took it out and keep using it! And thats the toner spritser.
AHHHH LIZ EARLE I LOVE YOU. This my alltime favourite cleanser, and I ironically ran out of it on christmas eve, super lucky!.

These items here are some of the lovely presents I got from my beautiful friend Michelle. She knows me super well and always picks out such lovely things! I know some of this ins't beauty but I thought I'd include it all.
I got some cute leopard print ear muffs, 3 defferent headbands (I alllllways wear headbands so fab pick from meesh), Clarins lipgloss and balm set, I'm in love with the nude balm! Clarins Au de Jarins perfume, moisturiser (which I love and will review), mini mascara and some serum.

Then she got me these! 2 of my biggest loves, Liz earle cleanse and polish (giant size!) and eeeepp a mac christmas collection lipgloss set, and this goes to prove how well she knows me, she picked the coral/nude shades, which are totally me and the exact colours I'd pick out myself!.

I would have been happy with just these presents, but this is only beauty related things! I'll post other presents in separate posts.

Hope you got some lovely things, have you tried any of this?

Love to you all,
Gemma.

Boxing Day Beauty - Lush Bargains!

As many of you will already know, Lush does some fab 'after xmas' offers, this year was no exception with all the christmas products being half price along with all products which use by date was within a year.

Here's what I picked up :)

I got the large size Snow Fairy shower gel, this is my favourite shower gel ever! I used to really disslike sweet-like smells, but once I worked for lush 2 years ago and tried it for the first time I soon fell in love! I like make sure I have enough to last me all year. I have this one and 3 mini's that I've got for xmas/preveriously already owned. I can't get enough of it!

I also got the snow fairy wand! I've seen this blogged about SO much and being a snow fairy addict I had to have it! Cannot wait to give it a whirl! Though I was hoping the stick might be a little longer and thicker, it seems a bit filmsy for the size and weight of the product.

I got the 9 to 5 cleanser, this was purely on a whim. I've always got on well with lush skin care but haven't ever tried this one, and since it was 50% off and only about £2ish I thought I'd give it a go.

Ahhh the hyped up Chrismas Present bath bomb. The pictures and reviews I've seen of this have been fastastic, it looks magical, so I needed it, thats about as deep as it gets.

Celebrate lip tint, I'm not sure if this is a christmas product or not but it was 50% off, I love their lip tints, this one reminds me much more of the lipstick that came in little pots when lush's sister make-up brand 'never to busy to be beautiful' was still up and running. I LOVED those little pots, and though this doesn't have half the sparkle and prettyness the other ones packaging had, its almost the same product, just a little more sheer. I love that lush is starting to bring back things from that brand, 'love' which is now a perfume you can buy at lush was my favourite perfume ever, it was from N2B's line and i was SO upset when they closes as I loved it so much, but now I'm super excited that I can get it again :D

The last product that I picked up was something I haven't heard much of in the blogging world, but what I have heard, has been all good words! Its the Colour supliment. Its advised that you mix this with your favourite moisuriser to create your own tinted moisturiser, or you can use it alone for cover ups. Can't wait to try it!

Oh and i forgot to mention, all this came to just over £17, barrrrgainnn!

Have you bought anything from the Lush sale?

I have SO many posts to share with you, all the christmas gifts (with reviews to come after) and some more sale bargains!

Hope you all had a wonderful christmas :)

My weekend in London with Russell Kane!

Okay so the title of this blog post, athough techincally true, implies that I spent my whole weekend with Russell.... oh how I wish. I did however see him at the Apollo on Saturday and at the BBC studios on monday for his pilot of a new series he's hosting, Live at the Electric.
THIS my little lovelies, is why I have been blog absent for few days! I was absolutely shatter after the weekend, I trained there and back both days and barely got any sleep, and I now work for hmv over christmas to pay for better presents for people, and I've been SO shattered!.

I know this is a beauty and fashion blog, and I have included some fashion in it for you, but I feel the need to post even more about my overall experience, because it was just fantastic :).

Anyway I'll get down to it now with the weekend.
If you saw my last post or any others infact, you will know just how big a fan I am of Russell Kane. His sence of humour is an awful lot like mine and he's SUCH a lovely guy, as I now really do know for sure... more on that later.

I wont go into a life story about him or anything but he came from a council estate background, he wasn't well off, however he was very inteligent. He went to uni to study literature but still ended up in a bit of a dead end job. Lots of people suggested he try standup, and forseveral years every night after work he'd do a free set at a pub.
He went from that to recently winning the Fosters Comedy award!
However he stays totally grounded and really appriciates everthing he now has, as he explains in some of his stand up jokes and how he tweets.

At the Apollo I was sat behind his mum! I was 10 rows back and had a fantastic view!
I also saw his girlfriend at the bar and she is SO much prettier in real life than in photo's, really beautiful.
He was fantastic live, his stories are always hilarous with brilliant delivery, yet theres always almost a lot of warmth to them, he tells you about himself on a deeper level than most comedians go to. And I can't not giggle with his brilliant energetic pacing and twirling about on the stage! He has a smile that's just so infections it instantly makes you happy when you see it.
I can go on and on about how excited I was, the first one there, cozing up to management to try and meet him, but I'm sure you just want to see some photos already so here's a few for you.

Okay so not THE most exciting pictures ever, I wasn't alowed to take pictures inside the Apollo.
I do have a VERY exciting picture soon though... just wait for it.

Oh and very quickly I have to add this picture, I thought this statue was hilarous.
Orgy in London, well why not?

So it doesn't really clealy show my outfit in these pictures, it was to cold outside, and inside the Apollo when my full dress was visabile i couldn't take photos... soooo I'll show you some pictures of what I wore, just not on me =].

I fell in love with this dress when I model I worked on, wore it for a shoot. Its £27.99 from Ark.

And these are the Henry Holland tights I wore!.

I know... Its a lot different from the outfit I planned to wear in the previous post, but I did end up wearing the black dress mentioned for the BBC :).

Okay so the BBC...
I wont rabbit on, but I ended up going on my own as my friend couldn't go.
I have been determinded to meet Russell Kane for ages. I'm a massive fan and I'm a real tryer when it comes to getting something that I really want and am really passionate about.
I was very close to meeting him after the Apollo, the manager was going to let me, the stage door bouncer however, declined, saying only friends and family with an official AAA pass allowed, and no one else.

So I asked the ticket collecter at the BBC she said it tends not to happen here, sorry.
I was like, Okay, nevermind, but I'll try something else.
I actually got a front row seat right at the middle for this show, I couldn't stop smiling, Russ even made a joke about me, I was so happy!
After the show I thought I'd try my luck and went to ask a camera man, before I'd even said anything, little miss ticket collector lady, was behind me and telling me, 'no no no, I know what your trying to do, you need to leave now please' absolute bitch... WELL.....
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Russell!
So I shouted to him 'Russell!' I asked if I could have a quick hug and picture, the BBC lady contined to be a bitch telling me I wasn't alowed but Russ was so lovely and told her to just let him have a minute with me, even though she still declined, he just whispered to me that I better hurry so neither of us get in trouble, but he had a quick chat with me and a picture, and even signed the bag that I got from his merch table at the Apollo. Such SUCH a lovely man. His girlfriend also regognised me from twitter gave me a cuddle and we had a little chat.

I can't believe I actually met one of my biggest ever idols, it just goes to prove if you want something bad enough, you really can get it!.

And heres the picture :).

This weekend has only intensified my love for Russell Kane. Not only a brilliant comedian, and excellent writer, but such a lovely genuine person!

He's spoken to me on twitter 8 times in the past couple of months, no other celebrity has done that.
I really look up to this guy so much!

Just another random little note, comedy is always something I've been interested in, I've always been pretty witty and full of banter and stories, after being told by a few different guys that I'm quite funny and should try writing stand up, I'm going to give it a go, and next year I'm going to try out some open mics. As I say, its something I've always wanted to do, but this man has really inspired me.

Can't wait to read his Novel that comes out in April and Watch his DVD that I know I'm getting for christmas!

Have you heard of Russell Kane, what do you think of him?
Much love,
Gemma.

P.S. If you haven't, then you must google/youtube him!

Outfit planning for my evening at the Apollo!

I think I mentioned in another post about how much I loved Russell Kane.
If you wondering 'who on earth is that?' then please please please look him up. If you love him to, 1. I love you! 2. You cannot love him as much as me, so sorry ;).

He's my favourite comedian  and has fairly recently took a little more rise to fame, he's appeared on shows such as Russell Howards good news, Comedy Rock with Jason Manford, Celebrity family foruntes, Chilren in need celebrity master mind, I'm a celebrity get me out of here now, live and the apollo and lots more! He won the Fosters Comedy award this year for his show 'Smoke screens and castles', which you can now get on dvd!

Well lucky me, and extremily excited me, is going to see him on Sunday at the Hammersmith Apollo. I have a pretty decent seat in the middle and only 11 rows from the front. I'm also seeing him on Monday, at the BBC studios so watch his new show show being filmed! Anyway the Apollo being a little bit more upmarket than being in the audience of a tv show, I thought I'd dress myself up nice for the occasion! Its quite common for a few celebrities to be the Apollo when comedians are performing and I do know that Gemma Collins from TOWIE is going to be there, not sure on anyone else, but hey, its nice to dress up anyway, but especially when you never know who you could bump into!

Sooooo.... after that leangthy introduction, heres what I plan to wear!
It may change if i decide on something else but I'll do a post on what I wore anyway :).

The dress I ordered from NewLook, I love it, had to get it in a size 6 though because they hadn't got any 8's in for ages, but because of the style of dress that it is, it fits fine :)

Tights are by House of Holland (love their tights) and i got them from tkmaxx for £5.

The lipstick pictured is Voiletta from Mac when it came out in the Venemous Villains collection. I'm not 100% sure if this is the lipstick I'm going to wear, but I do plan on wearing a dark bright purple/berry shade. By the way, in the picture of Voiletta, appears a bit brighter and slightly more 'crayon purple' than it appears in real life and on the lips, but you get the idea, its a bright deep purple lipstick! And if not this one, it will be one of my many other deep berry/purple shades that I have a thing for at the moment. I just think which such bright coloured tights (they're fairly sheer but they do stand out) that it needs a complimenting little pop of colour somewhere to complete the outfit and make it look right. And on the lips will be just fine!

The shoes pictures aren't exactly the same as mine, mine are the exact same style only in leather (faux).
But you may have seen pictures of those shoes in a few other posts, they are my go to shoes lots of occasions! They are comfy, I can last a whole day in them before they start to ache and they look lovely! I'm a sucker for wedges!

Anyhoo's thats my little outfit planning.
Have you heard of Russell Kane, do you love him?
Do you plan outfits way ahead of time when your excited?
Let me know :)!

Vintage Beauty Cult Classics

With so many new beauty products coming on the market every single day, its hard for a product to really shine above all the competition. Some fantasic products are hiden gems whilst some shine so bright and are so widely talked about that we can't miss them!
With new technology being created all the time and beauty companies coming up with 'the next best thing' every 5 minutes it can sometimes get a little confusing.
However, there are some products on the market that have been around for abolsute years and are still being widely used and adored.

These are what I call my vintage cult classics, products which have been around for decades
and never fail to let us down!

Ponds Cold Cream

You can bet your bottom dollar that your mother, grandmother and her mother will have had this sitting on their dressing table! Ponds cold cream was created in the 1910's and continues to get raved about today. I to own this cream and i have to say, it is pretty fantastic!.
It does 3 jobs, its a cleanser, it removes all make-up including eye make-up and it can be used as a face mask.
Ponds cold cream has a massive celebrity following to, Kylie Minogue swears by it and says this is the product that keeps her looking young!. And it only retails for between about £3-£5 a pot! Bargain!

4711

Forty-seven eleven perfume is in my oppinion, the most classicly vintage fragrance out there.
Formed in the 1800's and it still sits on the shelves of boots today!.
My granny always had a bottle of this on her dressing table, her's was like the round bottle pictured above, she must still have some, and as young girl I would always love sniffing it! I love how they have stuck very close to their origional packaging after so many years, they still sell a little round bottle thats almost identical! The smell reminds me of her and I adore it. Its notes are, citrus oils, lemon, orange, light floral rose and sandlewood. Its deffinately love or hate, it does smell vintage and I guess you could call it a bit of an old lady scent, its sure not for everyone but I love it.

Revlon Cherries in the Snow

The cherries in the snow lipstick and nail polish was launched in 1953. Its non-offencive shade of red, not to bight infact it has a slight hint of pink and is super wearable. If your scared of a red lip this this is deffinately a colour that can use to start to ease you into them :).

A quick bit of vintage revlon trivia, it's rumoured that in his first desingns Christian Louboutin used one of revlons red polishes to paint the sole of his shoes!

Chanel No. 5

The ultimate classic perfume!
Chanel gave it this name because she chose the sample contained in the fifth vial. She said "I present my dress collections on the fifth of May, the fifth month of the year and so we will let this sample number five keep the name it has already, it will bring good luck."
The first bottle of the perfume was produced in 1919 and ladies all over the world still class scent as a staple to this day!

Rosebud Salve
Rosebud salve has very much stuck to its pretty vintage packaging which I love, it gives it charm.
It was created in 1895, it is a multi-use product that is primarily used as a lip balm, but can also be used on cuts and grazes, eyebrow grooming and also for smoothing down flyway hairs.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream

8 hour cream is another brilliant classic, created in 1930, its another multi use product.
The story behind it's name is due to a loyal client who used it to treat her child's skinned knee and 'eight hours later' the skin looked all better.

This products soothes restores skin, calms it and helps chapped, cracked, dry skin. It also soothes redness and minor skin irritations.
Nowdays this product is available in many variations asside to the orgional, including lip treatment, lip tints, hand cream, sun protection and many others.

Lipcote

Lipcote first made its appearance in the 1950's, its not varied is packageing to much, and again, its such a classic. This is a lipstick sealer that works wonders. Not much has really changed about the product since its release however it has now recently become available in a vanillia version to :)!.

Elnett Hair Spray

Last but not least on my list of vintage cult classics is the Elnett hairspray.
Created in 1960 this buzz about this hairsrpay was big, and its still the most popular hairsprays used today. Ask any hairstylist or anyone who works in the beauty and fashion indsutry, and they will tell you that this is hairspray that all the pro's usebackstage 90% of the time, no pro is ever without of bottle of it!

Phew, that was quite a list! Theres so many more I could add, but for now, I think these are the best and most iconic vintage products that we still use today.

Have you tried any of these vintage cult classics? Do you know a product you think should have been included in my list?
What do you think the cult classics of our modern day newer products will be in the years to come?(i'll be doing a post soon about my own predictions).
Let me know your thoughts :).

Philip Kingsly elasticizer review!

So in the Novemeber glossy box (which I haven't even reviewed yet as it really didn't inspire me), I recieved the sample of the Philip Kingsly eslasticizer, the only product that I was excited to try.
This is a pre shampoo treatment that promices to improve the condition of your hair, providing it with elasticity, bounce and shine. It also provides UV protection after washing. This is actually a treatment that was created specifically for Audrey Hepburn!
Prices start at £3.60 for a 20ml Sachet, going up to £70.50 for 1000ml. So deffinately not a budget item!
This product has had a lot of hype surounding it, but reviews have been mixed and for every couple of raving reviews, there is someone who dissagrees and believes the product does nothing for them.

Where do I fall into?
Well sadly, and I say sadly since the price is so costly, I fall into the 'wow this product is fantasic' catagory.
Ever since I was little I've always wanted really long hair, and it just never really happened, I got it to a certain leangth but it never really grew past that, especially as I got older and started colouring and straightening my hair. And its accoured to me that has been my problem. I know you're probly thinking, this has nothing to do with the product I'm reviewing but I can assure you it does.
I had a hairmare about 8 months ago, I had died it a darker blonde for a while, then I got bored, fancied having it a bit lighter and ashier, went to sallys, they gave me wrong instructions and my hair turned grey! To try and counteract the extreme ash, I put a live xxl yellowish blonde on my hair, this turned my hair a nasty orange colour and very much damanged my hair, ends especially. So I turned to the hairdresser to fix the colour and I told her to give it the chop, it was cut in to a long bob and I hated it, but I wanted it to grow it out healthy and in a style.
Since then I have been trying every trick in the book to try and get it to grow properly. But I've found so far the best methods are the easest to do, but the hardest to pursue. No heat! This i think has made the biggest difference, I rarely blowdry my hair, I very rarely straighten it, I either put it in a topknot or shove in my extensions.
The only issue with having it in a topknot so often and usuing extensions is that it made my hair very tangley. It was nightmare to brush.

Now, after just one use of the elasticizer, it brushed STRAIGHT though! No knots or tangles. Once my hair was dry it felt so bouncy, soft and the ends looked so much better!
In all honestly after washing it out in the shower, I couldnt feel a difference, but seeing the difference it made when dry was fantastic! I really feel this is something that is going to aid my hair growing. The condition has improved so much!
Sad side? I've now run out of my sample and this stuff is expenive, but is urgent on my chritmas and birthday list!

Have you tried this product, what did you think? Have got any hair growing tips?
Let me know your thoughts!

My work is in a shop window!!!

So yesterday I went to cambridge to do another job for Reeds Hair, I had 7 Models to do so it was all super fast paced and a bit like a little make-up conveyer belt! But I love shoots like that because your rushed off your feet and you get such a little buzz!
It was for Reeds new hair collection and I shall post pictures as soon as I have them.

Anyway, when I left the salon for the evening, I noticed a big picture in the shop window and was like ohhhh my gosh! Thats my work!
The work I had previously done for their salon about a month or so ago, was right in front of the shop for all customers and passers by to see!.

I know its not the biggest achievement in the world, but I'm trying and working so hard with my freelancing at the moment to try and get my name out there, and as far as I know, this is the first peice of my work to ever be displayed on the highstreet, appart from some previous fashions styling work.
So as small as a step this might be to other make-up artists out there its a MASSIVE deal to me!.
Walking out and seeing my work on display? I have to say I was super proud!.
If anyone is based in cambridge or are going there any time soon, pop by Reeds and see if you can see it :)
If any of you want to find out what I get up to with my freelancing click here
Hope your all having a lovely start to the week.
Loves to you all

OOTD 2 :)

Another quick little outfit of the day.
Today I was treated to Nando's by Jim, one of the lovely hairdressers who I do make-up for, which was very super lovely of him, cheers Jim :).
I've never worn this little combination but I alsolutly love it!

I also cannot and will not ever get over the love I have for this little trilby hat, I wear it so so often.

Shirt:H&M
Skirt:H&M
Trilby:Republic
Cross Neclace: A prize from ticket wins at skegness!

You can't see my make-up at allll in these photos, but I kept it warm and neutral, a light soft pink on the cheeks, filled in brows, on the eyes :Mac wedge, Mac expresso and a deep berry plum colour by bedhead.

I know it doesn't look very weather appropriate but actually today wasn't all that cold really, however the slight breeze did cause a few embarassing moments... especially when your wearing bright green underwear with sean the sheep with googley eyes...
Haha oh dear!

Loves to you all,
Gemma
